Feb 2nd: Kinika ase?

In the Northeastern region of India, the population consists of a variety of tribes. Each tribe has its own language and customs but, since they are so near each other, one another can understand or share the other culture.

"Kinika ase?" Means "How are you?" in Nagamese from the state of Nagaland. Even though I was in the state of Manipur, I thought I would give it a try.

Seeing this beautiful woman and her child I tried it, "Kinika ase?"

I was thrilled when she responded with the only answer I understood,

"Balase" "I am good"
